We have several ways that you can be involved in helping the residents at Arbutus. We value your time, talent, efforts, and resources to help continue the mission of Arbutus.

Make a Gift and Make a Difference

            Every gift is important and assists Arbutus Park Retirement Community in continuing the mission of helping our residents.  No gift is too small.  We treasure our donors because you make it possible for Arbutus to offer diversified and high quality housing, health care and related services to achieve a lifestyle for our elder residents in a secure, caring and Christian environment.

            Tribute Gifts:  Arbutus offers two types of tribute gifts:
            1.  An Honor Gift celebrates a special occasion in a person’s life such as a marriage, anniversary, birthday, graduation, or an accomplishment.
            2.  A Memorial Gift is in remembrance of a person, perhaps a loved one or a friend, who has passed away. 

For Tribute Gifts, acknowledgements can be sent to the person receiving the Honor Gift or to a family member for Memorial Gifts.  All Memorial Gifts received are directed to the Benevolent Fund.

General Gifts:  We are blessed to receive gifts for general purposes — unrestricted use.  General Gifts help us with the daily operation of the Manor.

Restricted Gifts:  You can designate your gift to a special project, for a specific use, direct it to a special nursing section, or for another purpose not listed.  Some examples include:
            1.  Benevolent Fund
            2.  Resident Medical Equipment
            3.  Doerr Wing
            4.  West Wing
            5.  Crossroads, the Alzheimer’s Unit
            6.  Personal Care
            7.  Activities Department
            8.  Chapel
            9.  Physical Therapy

• You can print the form below and mail it with your check to

• You can fax the form with your credit card to 814-266-1641.
• You call Arbutus at 814-266-8621 and charge your gift over the phone.
• You can make a pledged gift, for a specific amount, with payments spread over one year.  Payments can be made by check or, with your approval, we can charge the payments onto your VISA or MasterCard at the interval you select, either monthly or quarterly.  Please contact our office and we’ll send you the information.

Corporate/Employer Matching Gifts: Doubling your gift!

Most companies today have an employer/employee matching gift program or similar program whereby the company will usually match what the employee contributes to an organization.  Arbutus shall recognize your company and you for the gifts received. 

Each company has different guidelines and procedures so it is best to check with the company you work for to determine their requirements and specific process.  If you are not sure that your company has a matching gifts program, stop by the human resources office for assistance.  Frequently, smaller companies have their matching gifts program operating within the human resources office.

Community Involvement

            People inquire about wanting to do a special event or activity and seek ideas and information from us.  Our Director of Development can answer your questions.  Here are just a few possibilities:

• If your group sponsors an event where proceeds are designated to different charities each year, recommend Arbutus.
• Recommend to your place of worship, an activity or special collection on behalf of Arbutus.
• Recommend Arbutus to your employer as the recipient for the annual contribution or benefit proceeds.
• If you belong to a sorority or fraternity recommend Arbutus as the recipient of the event’s proceeds.
• Recommend Arbutus to your professional, civic, social, hobby group, or organization as the recipient of your group or organization’s event proceeds or for the annual charitable contribution.

Arbutus Park Blossoms Society

            The Arbutus Park Blossoms Society, created in 2006, recognizes individuals who have chosen to name Arbutus in their estate planning or make a significant outright gift to Arbutus during their lifetime.  Donors wish to share the joy of giving in meaningful ways and witness how their gifts are utilized and benefit the residents.  We at Arbutus are given the opportunity to recognize and thank you, the donor, for thinking of Arbutus.  If you wish to remain publicly anonymous, yet share privately your plans with us, we will respect your wishes.
 
You can become part of the Arbutus Park Blossoms Society by:

• Naming Arbutus Park Manor as a recipient of a gift in your Will.
• Making an outright gift of personal or real estate property, stocks, bonds, etc., to Arbutus.
• Naming Arbutus as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
• Naming Arbutus as the beneficiary of a life-income plan such as a gift annuity.

While there are many ways you can plan your estate and include Arbutus, we recommend and encourage you to discuss your plans with your family and speak with your legal representation, tax attorney, insurance agent, and financial planner before making your final estate planning decisions.

Estate and Planned Gifts

            In recent years, Arbutus has been the beneficiary of gifts from caring and thoughtful donors.  We are deeply moved and appreciate these gestures because we realize that Arbutus has touched someone when they think enough of our organization to embrace Arbutus in their Will or estate plans.  Their gift is a testament about their personal values and makes the statement that they want Arbutus to continue its mission.

            We know that planning your estate is a careful, thoughtful, and personal decision.  We also understand that there are many factors that enter into such decisions, for example, planning for your family’s current and future needs, your wishes, and maximizing your estate’s gifts with minimal impact from taxes.

            Arbutus is positioned to accept gifts from Wills and Bequests and outright gifts of cash, personal or real estate property, life income plan such as an annuity, life insurance, trusts, and stocks and bonds, etc.  We recommend and encourage you to discuss your estate plans with your family and seek advice and counsel from your legal representation, tax attorney, insurance agent, and financial planner before making a planned gift.
