MANAGEMENT AND STAFF
Arbutus Park Retirement Community is our area’s largest Continuing Care Retirement Community. We are a not-for-profit institution, registered as a 501(c)(3). This means we put all our earnings back into the Community to care for our residents and maintain our facilities. We are not in business to make a profit; our mission is philanthropic. Contributions to Arbutus Park are tax deductible.
We are managed by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from the Johnstown and surrounding areas. Our directors meet quarterly and make policy decisions.
Day to day operations are managed by a highly qualified, and deeply committed, professional staff. Many of our employees have been with us for their entire professional career. They have made Arbutus their mission in life.
Rick Wilson is our licensed nursing home administrator. He is assisted by Patricia Hull, Director of Nursing, Brooke Patterson, Assistant Director of Nursing and Susan Taylor, Director of Admissions.
We employ registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nurse aides, and other professionals, including full time maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds staff. We are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In all our nursing areas, staffing levels are optimized to meet the special needs of our residents.
Our foodservice operations are under the direction of a registered dietitian and qualified dietary manager. We employ an outstanding dedicated kitchen staff.
Activities are an integral part of the lifestyle at Arbutus Park Retirement Community. Our Activities Director is April Coval. She leads a group of 28 compassionate, personable, and talented activity aides. They provide a wide range of activities to engage all our residents.
Other essential staff groups are the professionals in our financial, human resources, and social services offices. These folks share the sense of service that is so much a part of Arbutus Park Retirement Community.
We emphasize continuing education, and all professional staff are required to maintain their certifications and encouraged to expand their knowledge. The field of geriatric care is growing rapidly these days, and at Arbutus Park, we try to incorporate applicable advances into our routine of care. We are proud to provide a clinical setting for several area Schools of Nursing.
