SKILLED NURSING CARE
Arbutus Park Manor offers skilled and intermediate nursing care, licensed by Medicare and Medicaid. Families use words like compassionate, thoughtful, respectful and kind when describing the registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and other professionals who care for our residents.
We know how important it is to have sufficient staff on duty to meet our resident’s needs. With 141 beds, we are one of the largest skilled nursing providers in Johnstown, yet our staffing levels are consistently rated above both State and Federal requirements.
Most of our nursing care rooms are semi-private; physician’s orders are required for admission. We are certified to provide IV therapy and advanced wound care. We provide physical, occupational and speech therapies in-house as well as podiatry, dental, vision and audiology services. These may be billed to our residents’ insurance. A small fee is charged for telephone, transportation and laundry.
We develop a personal plan of nursing care for each resident. This includes provisions for both physical and mental health. Our nurses regularly consult with resident’s families and their physicians. Each day our activity staff provides appropriate and interesting things to engage the minds and hearts of our residents. Our friendly chaplain visits residents. Music therapy and even pet therapy are offered. Sassy, a Golden Retriever, lives here at the Manor. Many of our residents cherish their visits with Sassy.
We try very hard to incorporate each resident’s personal preferences in their daily life. We offer things like an extended breakfast for those who choose to sleep a little later in the morning, as well as special meals and snacks. One lady enjoys a fresh orange each morning, another resident like apples sliced thin and chicken soup with extra noodles. These are small things, yet they are part of a larger whole, a philosopy of “Do unto others.”
NOTE: At Arbutus, our skilled nursing care is also available on a short term basis for Arbutus residents who may be recovering from a hospitalization due to an accident or illness.
